Tips to Build Muscle
Focusing on nutrition, steady state cardio exercises and light weight lifting will help you if your main goal is to “get in shape” or “be more healthy”. But if you want to really increase muscle size, then a few muscle building tips will help you in your weight room workout.
These tips will work with any muscle building program and you can find more about building muscles here
1. To build muscle complete high quality sets with heavy weights. You should rest one to three minutes between sets because using heavier weights works your muscles to their maximum potential.
2. Warm up should consist of the same exercises you intend to do in your program, but with reduced weight and fewer reps. Do not do any more than 5-6 reps. If you perform more than this, you will build up lactic acid or possibly get too tired. Warm up does not mean stretch – stretching doesn’t prevent injury. If you have a muscle you plan to work on and it is unusually tight, you can stretch to loosen that muscle – but stretches are otherwise not needed.
3. Don’t overanalyze each move you make. Go to the gym, perform the exercises as best you can and get stronger. After that, go home and don’t worry about what you may or may not have done wrong. Stress keeps you from performing at your best.
4. Both sides of a joint should be trained the same during the week. For example, if you exercise your biceps also work your triceps with the same number of sets and reps some time during your training week. Be sure to do this for each set of muscles around a given joint.
5. Most importantly, resolve that your goal is to build massive muscle – then do whatever it takes to meet that goal. If you don’t have time during the day for a workout, then wake up extra early every day to fit the workout into your day. Decide that you can take two to three hours out of your week to set aside for the hard work it takes to completely change your body.
If you follow these tips and work on a plan like the this one or this one you will be well on your way to your goal
