The heart is funniest above all things. When feelings are involved, majority of people will be so affected that the rest of the day will turn out ruined. This is perhaps the biggest blow that relationship problems deal with the human race. How does one bounce back from a breakup with the person you have loved with all your heart? Will you find it possible to go on with life without him or her? Perhaps you have invested so much time in that person, and then realize that he doesn’t want you anymore. What should you do now? You feel like spending all your time bemoaning your sad state in dreary movies in a dark room, eating junk food. Interestingly, increasing your physical movement can help you cope with those heavy emotions.
Working out may be the last thing on your mind in the aftermath of a breakup. Anyway, there is no one to look good for. And of course, you are in no rush to get into another relationship tangle. But working out doesn’t just make you look good. It actually makes you feel good, too, literally. Exercise releases “happy hormones” called endorphins, which make you less prone to feeling depressed. Medical science has observed these hormones playing an important role in relieving stress. This is the main reason why medical practitioners tend to encourage people who are depressed to incorporate exercise into their week. Scientific research has shown how depressed individuals who followed the advice performed on the same level as those that took antidepressant medication.
Next, you wind up focusing your mind on something once you take up exercise. The last thing you want to do right after a breakup is to spend every waking moment reminiscing happy times with your loved one. Of course, it’s an understandable defense reaction during the first week, perhaps. But after the first week, it can get very heavy and super tiring. Getting started with a workout program will give you a new target to aspire for. Focusing your mind on something else can help do wonders to your aching heart.
Lastly, working out at the local health club will mean you get to spend time with other people. Meeting other people doesn’t necessarily mean jumping right back into the dating scene. But sometimes it might be a good thing to get to know other people or just spend time surrounded by new faces to explore. Of course, the intention is not to replace the person you’ve lost, but simply to fill up your time with new relationships. See this as merely a way to get yourself occupied to keep from wallowing in your sorrow.
