Most Americans look forward to the holiday season. Holidays are a food festival. Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner allow us a culinary stroll down memory lane. We reminisce by savoring the foods of our childhood. At work we yield to office temptation by sampling our manager’s tarts, the secretary’s rolls, and the security guard’s pralines. It is something that makes this time of year more enjoyable.
But this year the season holds dread, not delight because all of our usual favorites are definitely off the menu and we are worried about how to lose weight fast since we will not have the time to do anything except worrying about how to enjoy your holiday meal without packing on the pounds. Here are a few suggestions for sticking to your diet.
Everyone likes to be taken out to eat by their supervisors. When we have parties at work they include food. We have come to expect these events to occur. But they are diet breakers. There is satisfaction in making the boss pay for the expensive dessert. Why get the salad with fat free dressing when someone else is paying? It is hard to say no to a coworker who has spent their time making a dessert for everyone to share and many people can not say no. A person will find some way to convince themselves that they are not doing anything wrong. Be smart. Take some time and snack on something that is good for you. Hang out at the salad bar. Do not find the path to the bar. And if someone asks why no cookies, share your diet plans with her. You might find a sympathetic ear.
It is not your mothers fault that you are filling up your plate over and over again. You can tell people that you are trying to watch what you eat before you go somewhere. You’re not being rude when you let the mashed potatoes and gravy pass you by. You’ve just changed your eating habits. Remind your family you want to be around for many more Thanksgiving Day dinners and do not want to worry about having to find out lose weight fast once the holidays are over because you step on the scale and the number is much higher than you expected.
Find out if other relatives are dieting or just want healthier fare. It might be possible to have several healthy alternatives if you plan together. Let the people at the table know what the dish is about. Don’t expect the entire family to throw out the traditional dinner and go vegan overnight. Make sure that you realize that the time spent together is more than about eating. The holiday table is where memories are made. You should be there.
Put some stickers around your home to keep your mood up beat. Put up a picture of what you looked like before you started dieting. Seek a support system to help you. Remind one another to stay the course. The point is, don’t go it alone. A person will struggle to reach their goals when they do not have support. Christmas time is not the time to ruin your diet plan.
Keeping to a diet is difficult and the holiday season makes it nearly impossible but that does not mean you should eat anything you want and then try to learn how to lose weight fast at the start of the new year and instead remember what your final goal will bring: health, wellness, and an improved you. Commit yourself to making the right choices no matter what is placed in front of you. Take the time to reflect on the reasons that you want to be healthy during this time o year.
