Can You Lose Weight Fast?

It’s really one thing to lose weight fast, and quite another to lose weight safely. This is really a matter of short term gains as opposed to long term gains. What we can tell you right now are your not-so-healthy fat loss options. The most prominent one would be all forms of starvation diets. You may not know it but crash dieting is a form of starvation diet. Eating ¼ to ½ cup of cottage cheese every meal time is also a form of starvations diet. The same is true when you drink only those protein shakes instead of eating regular meals. Starvation diet can be defined as that diet when you basically deprive yourself of all sustenance that is essential to good health in order to shed a couple of pounds.

More often than not, this is coupled by a very vigorous exercise regimen that is supposed to help slough off the fats faster. This may work but on a very temporary basis. In fact, this works to a point that it leads the person on a yo-yo dieting routine. Yo-yo diets is when you trim off some pounds; regain some; trim off some again when you go back to that diet; regain more pounds; and so on and so forth. This happens because your body responds to your “starvation periods” accordingly. When you deprived yourself of essentials sustenance, your body starts building up its reserves of adipose tissues (or fat cells) in order to stay alive. Every little thing it extracts from whatever you may ingest is stored in those tissues for future use. Unfortunately, when you go off your diet, the body still stores more and more calories into those tissues until you have a build-up of fats that is more difficult to remove. This is essentially why everyone (and we mean, everyone) who goes on starvation diets regains all the pounds that they have lost and more.

Another not-so-healthy fat loss option is subscribing to all forms of fad diets. As you all know, fad diets come and go… but none of them stay long enough to solve all the overweight problems of the world. This is an indication that such diets do not really work. The thing about fad diets is that they work for certain people, but that constitutes to (more or less) 0.000000000001% of the world’s population. Fad diets actually work on a hit-or-miss basis, depending largely on one particular person’s metabolic rate, overall fitness to begin with, probably underlying medical conditions, etc.

If you really want the best healthy fat loss option in regards to diet, then your best bet is to go on a nutritionist-approved, tailor-fitted diet. Although technically, a doctor approved diet and a dietician approved diet may work as well. However, a licensed and practicing nutritionist can help you shed the pounds more safely but with quicker results, according to what your body personally needs. The term “quicker” is relative here since a nutritionist will not force immediate weight loss on you. Rather, he or she will create a diet plan that will gradually lower your calorie intake so that your body does not think that it is deprived of sustenance. This way, you maintain your health while you lose pounds; and your body works with you in your goal to become trimmer.
