When we think of martial arts clothing, we generally will think in terms of the classic karate and judo uniforms that are the quintessential traditional fight apparel. While these types of martial arts clothing are certainly among the top sellers, there are other forms of apparel items that sell as well. Some may be a little more difficult to purchase due to their rarity, but they can be found and purchased with the right search effort.

What are these unique styles of martial arts clothing? They are quite varied and originate from a number of different styles and systems.

Kung fu is sometimes woefully underrepresented in martial arts catalogues. This is unfortunate since there are a number of excellent satin style pants with sashes that are utilized in a number of Chinese arts. Also, the classic buttoned uniforms Bruce Lee made famous decades ago in his films are still regularly used in numerous kung fu schools to this day.

The realm of grappling is filled with a tremendous variety of martial arts clothing as well. Judo uniforms may have been the original grappling Gi but the emergence of other styles have added to the collection of uniforms. Brazilian jiu jitsu requires a variety of different uniforms designed for the gripping related to the ground game. The Russian Kurtka is designed to be lighter and closer to ‘regular’ clothing. The vast majority of mixed martial arts clothing is designed to facilitate mobility for grappling and striking. Yes, there is an amazing amount of variety in grappling clothing that many may not be aware of.

Filipino and Indonesian arts offer some unique martial arts clothing designed to maintain the culture of the indigenous arts of these countries. As the popularity of these arts grow, the demand for related clothing will increase as well.
